Yöveden Ateljeekoti accommodates both culture-hungry travelers
and companies seeking rejuvenation!

The Ateljeekoti is located on the Himalansaari Island in Mikkeli, in a former school building dating back to 1893.

A short walk away, you can find a wealth of old buildings and cultural landscapes. The Ateljeekoti is also next to the Himalansaari Church, built in 1915. It’s only about 800 meters from Ateljeekoti to the shores of Lake Saimaa’s Yövesi. From the shore, it’s a 1.2 km boat ride to the Astuvansalmi rock paintings, among the largest in the Nordic countries.

Stay at Ateljeekoti

At Yöveden Ateljeekoti, there’s plenty of room for larger groups. The house has two large halls, one with a dining table for 12 people. The other hall can also be furnished with tables and chairs for larger groups, and it features a projector screen. Inside the house, there are five bedrooms with accommodation for up to eight people, with additional beds available for more. Additional accommodation is provided in the yard cottages, which are equipped with electricity and heating. The house features a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious summer kitchen outdoors. Ateljeekoti is available for rent for various events or gatherings.

Culture and History

Astuvansalmi, home to the largest rock paintings in the Nordic countries, is located less than three kilometers from Ateljeekoti. We offer boat rentals for visits to the paintings, which are 1,400 meters away by boat.

The standing female figure holding a bow is a unique feature of Astuvansalmi. This female figure is often referred to as the Artemis of Astuvansalmi. No other representations of women with weapons have been identified elsewhere in Finland.

A stunning place in the middle of wonderfully clean and beautiful nature, a quiet, stress-free place. Clear waters surrounding it, with rocks and sunsets. The evening is crowned by a truly old lakeside sauna with its cozy atmosphere, perfect for a refreshing dip in the lake. The main house is spacious with large rooms. I highly recommend it, there are mushroom and berry forests, opportunities for fishing, and you can admire the rock paintings. The views are truly magnificent.

A special bonus of the weekend was definitely the food! It was delicious, local food at its finest, and there was plenty of it. The kitchen’s delightful scents made everyone, even Rona the dog, almost ecstatic with happiness! Dining by candlelight delighted many senses at once and supported the course’s content, promoting well-being.
